Opening Ceremony of the Holy Quran Recitation Competition

On May 17, Kazan hosted the Opening Ceremony of the Holy Quran Recitation Competition!

The Holy Quran Recitation Competition is a traditional event within the framework of the OIC Youth Capital programme and is aimed at supporting the practice and study of the Holy Quran among Muslim youth.

30 foreign participants and 20 from Russian regions are taking part in the competition.

At the opening ceremony, welcoming speeches were made by:

•Timur Suleymanov - Minister of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan;

•Rasul Omarov - ICYF Director-General;

• Mufti Kamil Hazrat Samigullin - Chairman of The Muslim Board of the Republic of Tatarstan;

•Aidar Shagimardanov - President of the Association of Muslim Entrepreneurs of the Russian Federation.

Rustem Yunusov, the partner of the competition, Director General of Azon LLC, also took part in the opening ceremony.

The participants will be evaluated during all days of the competition by an international panel of judges chaired by Sheikh Ma’mun Shaaban Khalil Ar-Ravi, Chairman of the Committee on the Qur’an of the Ruler of the UAE

According to the results, the jury will select the 3 best Quran reciters among men and 3 Quran reciters among women. The winners will be awarded the prize of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, the winners will be awarded with digital devices.
